Tokyo Disney Sea: Fantasy Springs
The majority of my time on Walt Disney Imagineering’s Digital Model Maker Team was spent working on Tokyo Disney Sea’s expansion, Fantasy Springs. I worked on sculpting and organizing interior and exterior mesh, including landscape, characters, pools, waterfalls, plants, animals, characters, and buildings.

Shanghai Disney - Zootopia Ride
I also worked on Shanghai Disney’s Zootopia Ride animatronic characters while on the Digital Model Maker Team. My team worked with the Disney Animation, Special Effects, and Animatronics Robotics teams to prepare files for production.

The Dreams
Working at Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) was always a childhood dream of mine. I will always be so thankful for the opportunity I had to work there among some very inspiring people.
Working at Imagineering reinforced in me the importance of helping make someone’s dream come true. You are on a mission as a designer to bring a concept to life. Where there’s a will, there’s a way. -
The Tools
Our team used a handful of 3D workshops and machinery, as well as an arsenal of 3D software large enough to make any CAD designer blush, including Zbrush, Polyworks, Rhino, SolidWorks, DesignX, GOM, 3DS Max, BIM.

The Projects I worked on are still in development, and the work cannot be shown or discussed in detail. Any information available to the public is all I can share, so it’s best to learn more below!
The designs I worked on will be open to the public in 2023!
Role: Concept to Engineering Liaison
At Imagineering, I was a “Dimensional Designer” Imagineer on the Digital Model Making team. I worked on Shanghai Disney as well as Tokyo Disney Sea. We worked as the technical designers that would liaison between the concept and sculpt teams and the engineering and manufacturing teams that would build concepts for facade design and Animatronic Robots.

GOM

Navisworks
Navisworks (known for a while as JetStream) is a 3D design review package used primarily in construction industries to aggregate 3D design files. Navisworks allows multiple users and teams to open and combine 3D models; navigate around them in real-time (without the WASD possibility); and review the model using a set of tools including comments, redlining, viewpoint, and measurements. Navisworks is based on communication and collaboration, with viewing options for all project stakeholders.

Polyworks
From part and tool design and prototyping down to final inspection of assembled products, PolyWorks software offers advanced solutions to cover the complete product development cycle. Interfacing directly with major brands and technologies of single-point and point cloud 3D measurement devices through plug-in extension modules, this universal platform also supports a wide array of native point cloud and polygonal model file formats.
Polyworks is a comprehensive reverse-engineering software solution that allows extracting optimal CAD entities—curves, surfaces, parametric sketches, and prismatic features—from polygonal models of digitized parts to serve as the starting point in your professional CAD modeling solution. -

Rhino
Rhino can create, edit, analyze, document, render, animate, and translate NURBS curves, surfaces and solids, subdivision geometry (SubD), point clouds, and polygon meshes. There are no limits on complexity, degree, or size beyond those of your hardware.

Solidworks
SOLIDWORKS is used to develop mechatronics systems from beginning to end. At the initial stage, the software is used for planning, visual ideation, modeling, feasibility assessment, prototyping, and project management. The software is then used for design and building of mechanical, electrical, and software elements.

Zbrush
Pixologic ZBrush is a digital sculpting tool that combines 3D/2.5D modeling, texturing and painting. It uses a proprietary "pixol" technology which stores lighting, color, material, orientation, and depth information for the points making up all objects on the screen
What is Imagineering?
Imagineering is Disney’s experience design firm. Imagineers are artists, designers, engineers, and operations specialists who work together to bring new experiences to Disney fans. Each team on Imagineering’s overall team has a specific and unique role to play, from concept development all the way to finishing touches.
